Meet DeDreana


DeDreana Freeman lives in East Durham with her husband and three children.  She graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Communication from Rutgers University and is currently enrolled in North Carolina Central University’s Master of Public Administration program.  She serves as the Special Assistant to the President for East Durham Children’s Initiative (EDCI), a nonprofit focused on the cradle to college or career pipeline for the East Durham community.

Since moving to Durham in 2007, DeDreana has worked with a number of community and non-profit organizations to build a more equitable Durham.  Her leadership roles and community involvement include, but are not limited to:

DeDreana also co-founded Durham Equitable Economic Partnership (DEEP), a non-profit that focuses on creating permanent affordable housing for marginalized minority communities. DeDreana is an experienced small business owner and consultant with expertise in communication, strategic planning and data analysis.
